Working Outdoors, Skin Protection
People who work outdoors are more exposed to the sun and thus to carcinogenic ultraviolet radiation than people who work indoors. Protective measures against UV radiation are necessary when working outdoors. It should be noted that technical measures such as the use of sun sails and organizational solutions - for example shifting work to times with lower UV exposure, i.e. early morning or late afternoon - have priority. If these measures are not sufficient or cannot be implemented, body-covering clothing and head protection with appropriate UV protection must be worn. Last but not least - if no other protection is possible - then the use of sun cream with a high sun protection factor is necessary.
In the ETHIS webshop you can order various tested sun protection products in the sense of personal protective equipment for use during worktime. To do this, search the ETHIS web shop with the keyword ?sun protection?. Other, more specialized clothing with UV protection, for example a sun hat with neck protection, can be ordered individually, e.g., via external pageSapros.chcall_made
Caution: In midsummer, protection is required even if you only stay outside for just a few minutes or if the sky is cloudy. Long-term skin damage can also occur without sunburn and not only at work but also during leisure time.
Do you frequently work in the mountains, are you a gardener or do you regularly work outdoors and want to know whether you are adequately protecting yourself against UV rays? Then contact the Occupational Medicine and Health Protection section.
Our hands are intensely used during manual work activities and need special protection and care to keep them healthy. It is not only the wearing of gloves that protects the hands, but also a skin protection cream, applied before work, helps the skin to fulfill its protective function, see our Downloadskin protection plan (PDF, 161 KB)vertical_align_bottom. We recommend applying a hand care cream after work, which promotes regeneration and prevents skin problems. Useful information is given in the Downloadfact sheet Hand Protection and Care (PDF, 146 KB)vertical_align_bottom.
